Confidence is not a prerequisite
Di Tran introduces the YES I CAN mentality as something he practices, not a state of perfection he has already achieved. The useful starting point is willingness to try a learnable action. You do not have to feel certain before drafting a question, rehearsing an introduction, or asking where to begin. Equally, you do not have to force yourself into a risky situation to prove courage.
This course separates an action from its outcome. You can prepare a clear question; you cannot guarantee that someone answers. You can practice a skill; you cannot promise a job, income, approval, or a particular feeling. Resources, opportunity, other people, and circumstances matter too. An unsuccessful attempt does not establish a defect in your character or the value of your life.
Choose an ordinary, low-risk task and write one sentence beginning with I can practice. Add a time limit and a way to inspect the attempt. Use fictional details if personal reflection is uncomfortable. The book follows life stages, but this course is for adult self-study: its sequence is a menu of skills, not a deadline for what you should have achieved at a certain age.
