Two meanings of an asset

The book uses asset in a broad sense: health, learning, character, relationships, money, and purpose can support a meaningful life. In a financial worksheet, the term is narrower. Cash and property may have monetary values; a skill or friendship does not belong on that balance sheet as an invented dollar amount.

Keep two lists. One is a dated estimate of what is owned and owed. The other records capabilities, support, and actions you want to strengthen. Neither list measures human worth. Disability, debt, low income, isolation, or a difficult starting point does not reduce someone’s dignity.

Begin with fictional figures or non-identifying notes. This course is for adult self-study, not individual medical, investment, tax, or legal advice. You can complete every exercise without disclosing personal finances. The aim is a clearer next decision, not a ranking against other people.

Human value first. Clear numbers. Useful next steps.
