What a brand promises
A brand is the pattern of expectations people associate with an organization or person. A name, logo, and visual style help recognition, but the experience determines whether a specific promise is kept. Start with one sentence: for whom, in which situation, what will we reliably do?
The book emphasizes authentic action over a polished image. Treat that as a useful design challenge, not proof that advertising or visual identity no longer matter. Your promise should name behavior within your control. A clear appointment confirmation is controllable; every customer becoming confident is not.
Write a claim-to-action pair. Then ask what a skeptical reader would need to see. If the evidence is missing, narrow the wording or describe a plan as a plan. A slogan can be memorable without becoming an unsupported guarantee.
